Opalis: move database
Microsoft explaines in KB2023122 how to move your Opalis DB. The wizard informs you that the database contains tables and that they will be overwritten. Don’t panic and accept the warning, no data gets lost 🙂
Follow these steps to move the Opalis Integration Server database to a different database server:
1. Stop all currently running and queued instances of policies. This can be done using the Opalis Integration Server Client, or the Opalis Integration Server Operator Console.
2. Stop the following services on the Opalis Integration Server Management Server:
- OpalisManagementService
- OpalisActionServerWatchdog
- Opalis Operator Console Service (not a service by default but can be setup as one)
- OpalisRemotingService
3. Stop the following services on all Opalis Integration Server Action Servers:
- OpalisActionService
- Opalis Remote Execution Service (if installed and running)
4. Create a full backup of the database used by Opalis Integration Server. Please follow product documentation of your database server for backup methods.
5. Restore the database backup onto the New Server that you are migrating to. Please follow product documentation of your database server for restore methods.
6. Verify that user accounts used to run Management Server and Action Server based services are successfully capable of logging in and reading/writing to the new database server and catalog.
7. On the Opalis Integration Server Management Server computer, run the Opalis Database Configuration Utility from “Start->All Programs->Opalis Software->Opalis Integration Server” and set the configuration to point to the new location (for Oracle, the Oracle client instance would need to be modified).
8. Repeat step 7 on each Opalis Integration Server Action Server.
9. Update the Opalis-ds.xml file located in the <Operator Console Install Path>serverdefaultdeploy folder to point to the new target database server and catalog. If the Opalis Integration Server Operator Console is not being used, then skip to the next step.
10. Restart all the services that had been stopped in steps 2 and 3.
